If you use a standard quartz tube in there, you’re asking for trouble. Why? Because of thermal shock. Imagine a scorching hot glass tube getting hit by a drop of cold water. It doesn’t just crack—it shatters. Fast. That’s where explosion-proof quartz comes in. We don’t use the cheap, brittle stuff. Instead, we use quartz that’s been treated to handle those wild temperature swings. Now, “explosion-proof” doesn’t mean it’s a magic shield. It means that if the worst happens and the tube does fail, it’s designed to break safely. It won’t send shards flying across the room. It’s basically a safety net for anyone standing under the heater. As for the heat, these lamps use short-wave infrared. Instead of wasting time heating up the air in the room, the heat goes straight to your skin. It’s that instant “ahhh” feeling the second you flip the switch.
