
Why we’re moving to IP55 Infrared for bathrooms

Dead bulb. It’s a pain. That’s why we’ve been shifting toward IP55-rated infrared heaters. It just makes more sense.
What’s the deal with IP55?
Basically, it means the unit is sealed up tight. It keeps out the dust and handles water splashes from any angle without breaking a sweat. Think about it: bathrooms are humid, damp, and messy. If you throw a standard heater in a shower zone, you’re just waiting for it to short out or trip your breaker. We use gaskets and sealed housings so you can actually put the heat where you need it—closer to the water—without worrying about a total electrical meltdown.
Heat you can actually feel
Most heaters just try to warm up the air. But if your bathroom is drafty, that heat disappears the moment you crack the door. Infrared is a different beast. Instead of fighting the air, it sends out waves that heat you and your surroundings directly. It warms your skin and the tiles on the wall. Even after you flip the switch off, the room stays cozy because the walls are still holding onto that warmth. It feels more like standing in the sun than standing next to a radiator.
A few things to keep in mind
If you’re putting these into a renovation, don’t just plug them into any old outlet. These arrays pull a decent amount of power, so you’ll want a dedicated circuit. Check your wiring gauge—you don’t want voltage drops making your heater feel lukewarm. One more thing: because the housings are sealed to keep water out, they trap more heat inside than an open lamp does. Just make sure your bathroom ventilation is decent so the internal safety switch doesn’t kick in and shut everything down in the middle of a long soak. The best part? You can stop playing the “replace the bulb” game every few months. You just install it, forget about it, and enjoy a warm bathroom.
