
Making Bathroom Heaters Safe for Your Eyes (and Your Kids)
When we design infrared lamps for bathrooms, we’re chasing a tricky balance. You want that instant, cozy heat—especially when you’re drying off a baby—but you don’t want a light so bright it feels like staring into the sun. The problem is that standard short-wave infrared lamps have a nasty habit of producing a blinding glare. It’s harsh. It’s stressful on the eyes. And for an infant, it’s just too much. Taming the glare So, we changed how the light works. Instead of letting that raw, high-intensity white light blast out, we use special coatings and doped quartz glass. Think of it like a filter. It blocks out the high-energy visible light but keeps the heat. You still get that deep, warming sensation on your skin, but the blinding flash is gone. It’s all the warmth, without the squinting. The guts of the lamp Under the hood, we use a halogen-filled quartz tube. The halogen does a great job of keeping the filament from wearing out too fast, so the lamp actually lasts. But the real magic is in the glass. We treated it to diffuse the light. Instead of a single, searing point of heat, the energy spreads out. This means no “hot spots” on your skin—just a smooth, even glow. And it’s fast. Like, instant heat. A quick tip on installation These fit into your standard ceiling fixtures, but you have to be careful with the housing. These lamps put out a lot of heat at the base, and if things are too cramped, your socket is going to fry. Give the lamp head about 15mm of breathing room. Just a small gap for airflow. It keeps the wiring safe and stops the fixture from warping over time. Simple, but it saves you a massive headache later.
